Bicycle Safety and Other Wheeled Sports

Safe Kids Ride This Way is a committee focused on preventing unintentional injury and deaths to children who ride:

  • Bicycles
  • Skateboards
  • Scooters
  • Roller Skates
  • Rollerblades

More than 70% of children ages 5 to 14 ride bicycles regularly. Bicycling, rollerblading, skating and scooters are a great form of exercise, recreation and fun yet when done dangerously or without proper safety equipment, injuries and fatalities can occur.

Safe Kids Ride This Way educational programs are designed to teach children about the benefits of riding bicycles, scooters, skates, or roller blades while promoting good decisions on where to ride, who they ride with, the use of safety equipment, regular bicycle maintenance and how to ride safely to prevent a crash.
